Chilling wind and persistent rain cannot stop an estimated 2,000 Londoners from rallying in east and south London and marching on City Hall (Saturday, 31 January 2015).
Marchers included council tenants and leaseholders, housing association tenants, private renters and their supporters.
Marchers included council tenants and leaseholders, housing association tenants, private renters and their supporters.
They demand an end to the demolition of council homes, the re-introduction of rent controls, and the mass building of new genuinely affordable and secure public housing.
They say council estate demolitions, unaffordable new homes, developer-led 'regeneration' schemes, and rising rents are forcing Londoners on average and lower incomes out of London.

Converging
One march rallies at Shoreditch Church in east London and the other from Elephant and Castle in south London.
Converging at Tower Bridge, they unite and rally at City Hall.
Afterwards, a contingent takes direct action by occupying empty homes, including at the Aylesbury Estate in Peckham - an estate being readied for demolition and redevelopment into luxury and 'affordable' homes in one of London's biggest phased 'regeneration' schemes.
